Small Carpathians
Slovakia’s largest, oldest, and most popular wine-producing area, stretching roughly 100 kilometers along the eastern and southeastern foothills of the Small Carpathians from Bratislava to Trnava.
Stretching along the south-eastern slopes of the Small Carpathian Mountains, from Bratislava towards the historic wine towns of Pezinok, Modra and Svätý Jur, this is one of Slovakia’s most distinctive wine regions. Here, vineyards follow gentle hillsides shaped by centuries of viticulture, where Central European winemaking traditions meet a landscape of forests, historic cellars and picturesque villages. The region’s varied soils, sunny slopes and continental climate create favourable conditions for producing wines with freshness, structure and a strong sense of place.

Devín
A local aromatic legend
A uniquely Slovak grape with an unmistakable aromatic character. Bred in Slovakia, Devín combines expressive floral aromas with notes of exotic fruit, ripe peach and honey. From fresh, dry styles to richly aromatic off-dry wines, it offers UK wine lovers something distinctive, characterful and refreshingly different from the familiar international varieties.
Grüner Veltliner
Slovakia’s signature white grape
Fresh, vibrant and unmistakably Central European. Its lively acidity, delicate spice and elegant minerality create wines that balance character with effortless drinkability. From crisp, refreshing styles to richer, more textured expressions, it captures the region’s unique personality in every glass.
The Small Carpathians are particularly known for their expressive white wines, including Grüner Veltliner, Riesling and local favourite Devín, alongside increasingly compelling reds and traditional regional varieties. Generations of growers have shaped the region’s identity, balancing inherited knowledge with a thoughtful approach to modern winemaking. At Kraft Wines, we celebrate the Small Carpathians for their authenticity, diversity and understated character, a region that rewards curiosity and offers a fresh perspective on the wines of Central Europe.
