Gravettien Grande Cuvée 2020 — Vinařství NEPRAŠ, South Moravia
There are wines made to be drunk, and wines made to be remembered. The Gravettien Grande Cuvée 2020 belongs firmly in the second category.
From one of South Moravia's most ambitious estates, this is NEPRAŠ's flagship red - a wine that draws on the full depth of the Slovácká terroir and the exceptional ripeness of the 2020 vintage, one of the finest in recent Moravian memory. Aged in oak, it arrives with the composure of a wine that has had time to think.
Deep ruby in the glass with a dense, inviting core. The nose opens with dark plum, blackcurrant, and crushed black pepper, layered with dried herbs, a hint of dark chocolate, and the subtle earthiness that defines the best reds from this corner of Moravia. With air, warm spice and a touch of leather begin to emerge.
On the palate this is full-bodied and generous, with polished tannins, a backbone of firm but integrated acidity, and a long, persistent finish that lingers well beyond the last sip. This is a wine built for the table, roast lamb, aged hard cheeses, slow-braised beef, but patient enough to reward those who cellar it further.
The Grande Cuvée name is earned, not assumed. This is Moravian winemaking at its most serious.
