A powerful and characterful red from Vinárstvo Berta’s vineyards in Dubník, southern Slovakia. Alibernet is a Central European crossing that combines deep colour, generous dark fruit and impressive structure, and this 2022 expression shows the variety at its most intense and refined.

Deep ruby in colour, the wine opens with layered aromas of ripe blackberries, dark plums and sour cherries, alongside savoury notes of roasted coffee, dried poppy seed and smoked paprika. Twelve months of maturation in barrique barrels bring further complexity, adding gentle tones of vanilla, dark chocolate and spice.

The palate is rich, concentrated and dry, with juicy black fruit at its core and firm, ripe tannins giving shape and length. A long finish combines cherry fruit, warming spice and a mineral edge, making this a rewarding bottle for slow evenings at the table.

Serve at around 15°C with grilled beef, venison, slow-cooked lamb, rich stews or mature hard cheeses. It is also a fine choice to cellar, with the structure to develop gracefully over the coming years.
